KALAM is primarily intended for the publication of scholarly works in the field of Islamic Studies, especially ones that relate to Islamic theology, Islamic philosophy, Islamic mysticism and Islamic thoughts.
KALAM seeks to place the study of Islam within interdisciplinary approaches and comparative perspectives, and across various traditions of learning. In this way, Islam and Muslim societies are approached as an object of studies through an analytical lens of both textual analysis and social theories. Because of this, Kalam does not only study how theological beliefs of Islam have shaped the way Muslims live their lives; but also on how economic growth, political changes, social transformations, and technological develompent that happened in Muslim societies and their surroundings have influlenced the ways Muslim people live and express their religious beliefs in the everyday lives.
