Abstract

Communicating is the foundation of education.
Without communication, ideas, directions, and
thoughts are lost or misunderstood. Students may not
understand teaching material, educators may not
understand directions given to them, and teachers may
not understand that a gap in communication is
forming. So teacher student communication plays a
big part in the success of classroom interaction.
According to Cooper, effective teachers should
demonstrate competencies in sending and receiving
messages that give or obtain information, express or
respond to feelings, speculate or theorize, maintain
social relationships and facilitate interaction, and seek
to convince or influence. Beyond these competencies,
several teacher communication behaviors and
strategies must be learned to enhance student learning.
What teachers need to know obviously goes beyond
how to enhance self-presentation, how to keep
students on task, and how to manage student
resistance. Effective communication includes much
more than simple knowledge transmission. This article
will discusses somethings related to teacher student
communication.
